At the Core of Our Beliefs....

Our World Belongs to God

As followers of Jesus Christ,
living in this world—
which some seek to control,
and others view with despair—
we declare with joy and trust:
Our world belongs to God!

We believe that God is actively at work redeeming our world, our city, our neighborhood, and our personal lives. For us to be Reformed Christians means that we are to be actively engaged in the world and in our neighborhood as the hands, feet, and face of Jesus to those we meet.

At Fuller Avenue Church, we are Christians in the Reformed Tradition.  We take seriously such historic statements of faith as the Heidelberg Catechism and the contemporary testimony of faith Our World Belongs to God. Our other historic statements of faith include the Belgic Confession and the Cannons of Dordt.

Heidelberg Catechism Q & A 1

Q. What is your only comfort
       in life and in death?

A. That I am not my own,
but belong—
body and soul,
in life and in death—
to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ.

He has fully paid for all my sins with his
    precious blood,
and has set me free from the tyranny of
   the devil.
He also watches over me in such a way
that not a hair can fall from my head
without the will of my Father in heaven:
in fact, all things must work together for
   my salvation.

Because I belong to him,
Christ, by his Holy Spirit,
assures me of eternal life
and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready
from now on to live for him.
